Rust and mineral family: acid, never chlorine
How to get vitamin and iron drops out
Infant multivitamin drops are yellow-orange; iron drops leave grey or rusty marks, especially after chlorine.
Do this first
Rinse cold
Fresh stain
- Rinse cold
- Gently work in detergent
- For grey or rusty marks, use a fabric rust remover
- Wash
Dried or old
- Rust remover, rinse, wash
- Lemon and salt in the sun on white cotton
- Fabric care
- No chlorine bleach on iron drops; it darkens them.
- Time
- 15 min
- How to tell
- Look: yellow-orange or grey-brown spots; Feel: none; Smell: vitamin
Where this fix comes from
We check every fix against these published guides. We do not run a test lab of our own.
Before you start
- Test on a hidden seam first.
- Never mix cleaners.
- Keep it out of the dryer until the stain is gone.
